Defendant acquitted of allegations of rape and sexual assault

R v P (December 2025)

P was accused of raping and sexually assaulting his ex-partner following a night out. The trial involved late instruction of a toxicologist to examine the effects of a ‘date rape’ drug purportedly given to the complainant by a third party earlier on in the night. P maintained that all sexual activity that occurred was fully consensual. Following a trial, P was found not guilty unanimously on all counts.

Instructing solicitor was Ian Kelcey and counsel was Derek Perry of Albion Chambers.
