Defendant acquitted of rape and assault by penetration

R v O (April 2025)

O was accused by his ex-partner of rape on 3 occasions and assault by penetration during their 8-year relationship. O maintained that any sexual activity that occurred between him and the complainant was entirely consensual. At trial, it was proven that the complainant had been untruthful in relation to a non-molestation order and also to a police officer. After a 5-day trial, the jury returned not guilty verdicts on all counts.

Billy Olaniyi was instructing solicitor and counsel was Catherine Flint of Queen Square Chambers.
