Acquittal in high profile Sexual Assault matter at Bristol Crown Court

R v GD

The defendant in this case was charged with 5 counts of Sexual Assault on a train. The case was high profile and was reported in the National Press.

The allegations were made by 3 separate women and it was alleged by the defence that there had been an element of contamination in the way that their complaints had been dealt with. It was also alleged that the first three allegations were wrongfully attributed to the defendant and that the police had not dealt with issues of identification properly. After a trial lasting a week, the Jury acquitted the defendant of all charges. The defence case was prepared by Ian Kelcey and the Advocate at trial was Brian Altman QC of 2 Bedford Row, London.
