Firm successfully defends local authority’s appeal of judge’s refusal to make a placement order

In a recent care case (P S-F), the judge made a care order in respect of the child, but refused the local authority’s application for a placement order, which would have allowed them to place the child for adoption. The local authority appealed this decision and invited the court of appeal to make a placement order. The dismissal of the appeal means the client will continue to see his child who remains in a long term foster placement.

Both the original care and placement proceedings and the appeal applications were dealt with by Siobhan Boyle of our family department. The client was represented in court by Ben Jenkins of Albion Chambers
